Shirley Ann McDonald

Mrs. Shirley Ann McDonald, was born February 19, 1943 in Lumberton, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on May 26, 2024 at her home.
She attended J.H. Hayswood School during her early years before entering the workforce. She served as a dedicated cafeteria assistant in the Public Schools of Robeson County for 40 years. Shirley was a cherished member of her family; a beacon of light and warmth in the community she dearly loved.
Her smile, laughter, and the meals that she made with love, brought joy to so many people. Shirley enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends on her front porch on warm weather days.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Mr. John L. McDonald; her parents, Mr. Haywood and Mrs. Lizzie Stocks; her two sons, John Calvin and John Louis McDonald; her two sisters, Macy Purdie and Addie Mae McDonald; her five brothers, Leander Stocks, Haywood Stocks Jr., John (CQ) Stocks, Minister Gary Stocks, and David Stocks; her six brothers-in-law, David Lee Smith, Robert Whitted, Hampton Purdie, Thornton McIver, Jesse McDonald, and Robert McDonald; her three sisters-in-law, Susan Johnson, Virgie Page, and Queen Stocks; her son-in-law, William H. Cain Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Loretta Frazier (Greg) of Winston Salem, NC and Shirley Marie McIver (Derrick) of Lumberton, NC; her three grandchildren, Erick McDonald (Nina) of Lumberton, NC, Chanel Cain-Flores (Eric) of Gastonia, NC, and Jontarius Cain (Destiny) of Elizabethtown, NC; five sisters, Maggie Bell Smith, Pastor Ann Whitted, Patricia McIver, Susan McNeill (Randy), and Julia Faye Stocks, all of Lumberton, NC; four sisters-in-law, Louise Stocks, Jeanette Stocks of Lumberton, NC, Ann Regan of Pittsboro, NC and Shirley McCrae McDonald of New York; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence(Theresa) and Jimmy Davis; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
