Shirley Janette Muraca, a loving, faith-filled, and kind soul, passed away on May 8, 2023, in
League City, Texas. Born in
Houston, Texas, on November 20, 1932, Shirley was known for her unwavering dedication to her family and her strong commitment to her faith.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Salvatore "Sam" Muraca; her two brothers, Paul Kelly and Byron Kelly, Jr.; her sister, Mary Callihan; and her son, Scott Muraca, Sr. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Louise Boysen and her husband, Robert Boysen, Sr. and Debbie Marinelli. Shirley was a proud grandmother to Marisa Madden, Scott Muraca, Jr., Stefanie Pope, Michael Muraca, Kyle Muraca, Megan Muraca, Robert Boysen, Jr., Tiffany Mundie, Erica Richey, and Kelly O'Donnell; the cherished great-grandmother to 21 great-grandchildren; and a doting great great grandmother to four great great grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Shirley maintained a strong work ethic and was a dedicated employee at E. S. Levy & Co. for 13 years and Eibands for 13 years. She was also an active member of various associations, including the Grandmothers Club of Santa Fe.
Shirley's true passions, however, were her family and her faith. Her life centered around church and her family, and she was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church of Galveston, where she served as a lay minister and was a member of the Glorianas. An exceptionally talented crocheter, Shirley loved to create beautiful handmade gifts for her loved ones. She also cherished spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Shirley's services will be Scott Muraca, Jr., Michael Muraca, Kyle Muraca, Shawn Madden, Robert Boysen, Jr., and Robert Boysen, III. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas O'Donnell, Jason Richey, Richard Callihan, Dan Kelly, Scott Muraca, III, Hunter Pope, Dewayne Pope, Nathan Richey, and Lee Mundie.
Shirley's family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Monday, May 15, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 16, at First Lutheran Church, followed by burial at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
Shirley's memory will be forever cherished by her family and all who knew her. As the famous poet Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Shirley's warmth, kindness, and love will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
