Shirley Murphy

Shirley Murphy, 90, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on December 18,2025 In Marshall, Michigan. She was born on August 15, 1935 in Wheelwright, Kentucky in Floyd county to Hilbert Mullins and Aggie (Hall) Mullins.
She was a Member of the VFW. She had a heart of Gold. She enjoyed getting her hair down once a week. Her favorite shows were on ME TV. She loved singing with her brother Ralph Mullins at Ralphs Bar, and they sang together for everyone to hear. Their country songs on WPRT of Prestonburg Kentucky Radio every Saturday. Spending time and making memories with her family was what made her most happy. She also took her family in Michigan out to eat every visit with her husband Glen Murphy and kept the tradition going after her husband passed away. She also loved her cats which were part of her family. She will be missed deeply by so many.
Survivors include her son, Ward Tackett Jr.; two grandchildren, Dale (April) Brown and Jessica Berry of Michigan; two step grandchildren, Angie Cameron and Jon Jankovic; and numerous great grandchildren; two great great grandsons, of Michigan; brother, Ralph (Penny) Mullins; step children, Glenda Conway, Laverne (Jeff) Williams, Glen Murphy Jr. and Glenna (Justin) Crover; son-in-law, Larry Vanderpool.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen D. Murphy; daughter; Karen Vanderpool; sister, Virginia Bentley; her brother, Baby Mullins, her great granddaughter (Baby) Kaylee Brown, brother-in-law, James Bentley, and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Sue Tackett.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 30, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at the Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Greenwood Cemetery, 734 N. Morgantown Road, Greenwood, Indiana 46142.
