Shirley Babb Nodine, 91 , of 153 Campton Circle, Inman, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026 at the Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, South Carolina. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on March 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Gertrude (Sims) Babb and William Fred Babb and was the wife of the late Charles Maurice Nodine. Mrs. Nodine was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Inman Mills Baptist Church and served in the TEL Sunday School Class.  She worked in the accounting department at Arkwright Mills for 43 years and was the Vice President of Nodine Motor Company in Inman, South Carolina. She is survived by her two daughters, Angela Nodine and Wanda Hughes and her husband Mark; one son, Chuck Nodine; two grandchildren, Haley Hughes (Preston) and Hannah Hughes (Greg); three sisters, Earline Morris, Kathleen Collins and Ruth Evington along with many special nieces and nephews. She also survived by her special extended family Judy and Mickey Hughes, Rusty Willams, Coleman Green, Priscilla Dover, Cathy and Glenn Gould, Rosie and Jackson. In addition to her parents and her husband she was also predeceased by nine siblings, Alvin Babb, Frances Paulos, Glynn Babb, Mildred Mawhirter, Edward Babb, Furman Babb, William Paul Babb, George Babb, Johnny Babb.

Shirley was known for her gentle spirit and the way she loved others so deeply. She had a rare kindness about her, and her warm spirit, selfless heart, and genuine nature touched everyone she encountered. She carried a smile that could light up any room, and in that smile was a love so pure and steady that it made people feel safe, seen, and at home. She had the biggest, most gentle heart, one that gave freely, loved endlessly, and always put others before herself. Her family was everything to her. She loved fiercely and completely, pouring into her children, cherishing her brothers and sisters, and holding a special, immeasurable love for her granddaughters, Haley and Hannah. She was the steady voice of encouragement, the one who lifted others up, never overbearing, always supportive, full of optimism, grace, and quiet strength. That strength defined her. Shirley was a true fighter, walking through life with resilience and courage continuing to show up with love and faith no matter what she faced. She found joy in simple, meaningful moments, like her Saturday lunches with her brothers and sister. She had an unwavering love for her church, church family and Rev. Hames.

In her final days, she was surrounded by the incredible care and compassion of the Nurses and CNAs at Landrum Hospice House, whose kindness brought comfort not only to Shirley, but to all who loved her. To know Shirley was to feel loved. And that love, the way she gave it so freely and so fully, will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.
