Shirley Overton, 90, of Plainfield, passed away surrounded by loving family members on October 31, 2025. She was born in Frankfort, IN on March 1, 1935 to the late Roscoe and Ora Forney. Shirley retired from Indianapolis Life Insurance Company as a supervisor after 17 years in 1989. She was a loyal member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church. Shirley belonged to Quaker Town Shakers and the Indianapolis Hiking Club. She hiked the Grand Canyon two times. Shirley also enjoyed traveling after retirement. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Coy; second husband, J.C. Overton; four brothers and 2 sisters; daughter in law, Connie Coy. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Plainfield United Methodist Church (600 Simmons Street, Plainfield, IN 46168) where friends may visit from 10:30 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, IN. Survivors include her children, John Coy and Patti (Jose) Ortiz; grandson, Joseph Coy; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Autism Speaks, Damar Services or The Arc of Indiana.
