Shirley Joan Rasbury was born on December 23, 1935, in Dallas, Texas to parents G.T. Rasbury and Pauline Graham Rasbury. “Grammy”, as she was referred to by most of her grandchildren, grew up in Terrell, TX where she attended Terrell High School and was a standout twirler for the Tiger Band. Soon after graduation, she met and married the love of her life Curtis Jordon Rasbury and the new couple soon moved to Mesquite, TX where they lived for over four decades. In that little house The couple raised three children, Joni, Curtis and Kirk. Throughout her life, Grammy worked for the Southern Baptist Convention, Mesquite ISD, Sears, and finally Baylor Dental College before retiring.

Grammy was a Godly woman who loved the Bible, her church, and mostly her family. Early on, she often babysat her neighbors children and would always read and teach them Bible stories and Biblical truth. Grammy was a caretaker. She lovingly cared for her husband throughout his long battle with diabetes. Likewise, she cared for her mother for two decades and always loved and cared for anyone who needed help. Her greatest joy perhaps was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When she was able, she rarely missed any event they were participating in and they all loved her and savored time spent with her.

Grammy had a silly, quirky, and somewhat goofy sense of humor and is well known for her Shirley-isms. Due to this, she was often the brunt of our jokes and fun, but she loved the attention and took it all in stride understanding that our focus was due to the love and devotion we all had for her. She loved us all with the love of Christ, she was a rock, a steady hand, and a consistent force of joy and laughter to everyone who knew her.

Shirley (Grammy) is survived by daughter Joni Vineyard and husband David Vineyard of Allen, son Curtis Rasbury and wife Dana Rasbury of Forney, son Kirk Rasbury and wife Kim Rasbury of Forney, grandchildren Craig Rasbury and wife Patricia Rasbury of Emory, TX, Matthew Rasbury of Oxnard CA, Kelly Rasbury of Mesquite TX, Colton Rasbury of Mesquite TX, Piper Rasbury of Forney TX, Blake Rasbury and wife Sarah Rasbury of Crandall TX, Kaylee Holder and husband Reese Holder of Forney, Jenna Potts and husband Andrew Potts of Fort Worth, Travis Pollard and wife Carlie Pollard of New Orleans LA. and Alysia East and family. Great-Granddaughters Meryn Rasbury and Gracie Holder.

Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved husband Curtis Jordon Rasbury and parents Pauline and GT Rasbury, and sisters Billie Miller, Janie Bolton, and Roylynn Baker.

The family would like to express our gratitude to everyone who loved mom and checked up on her. However, we want to express a huge appreciation for the staff at Windsor Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Terrell for the spectacular love, care and support they provided our mother these past few weeks. God placed these people directly in her pathway to escort her to the finish line. To say that they went above and beyond would be a wild understatement. Thank you

Windsor, you have no idea how much we appreciate you.
