Mrs. Shirley Reigel

Mrs. Shirley Reigel, 90, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, of Tamaqua, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025, as a guest of Providence Place, Drums. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Herbert T. Reigel, who died on April 27, 2019.

They owned and operated Herbert Reigel Plumbing & Heating for 45 years before retiring in 2008.

Born on Sunday, Nov. 11, 1934, in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Agnes (Weicker) Schuetrumpf.

A Tamaqua High School graduate, Shirley was a member of St. John U.C.C. of Tamaqua.

She and Herb enjoyed snow birding to Florida, as Shirley kept in touch with local events reading the newspaper. While raising her boys, Shirley was active in Scouting and was a member of the Gideons.

Surviving are sons, Daniel J. Reigel, and his wife, Carol, Jeffrey A. Reigel, and his wife, Connie, Herbert D. Reigel, and his wife, Lisa, and Timothy Reigel, and his wife, Leslie; sisters, Mae Zavochi and Carol Schuetrumpf; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by a sister, Rhea Schuetrumpf; and brothers, Norman, Marlin and Claude Schuetrumpf.

Service: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, from the funeral home. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday.
