Shirley Robichaud Obituary

Published by Legacy from Jul. 30 to Jul. 31, 2025.
Shirley A. Robichaud, 83, of Alfred, Maine, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 27, 1941, in Biddeford to Gerald and Cecilia Larouche and was raised in the Biddeford-Saco area.

At age 26, Shirley met the love of her life and best friend, Philip Robichaud, who embraced her and her four young children. Together, they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.

Shirley had a gift for nurturing others. She was a longtime foster care provider for infants through St. Andre's Home and was the go-to neighborhood babysitter-offering not just care, but comfort and warmth to countless children. Her home was always open, and her heart even more so. She was a mother and mémère not only to her own family, but to anyone in need of love.

After raising their family, Shirley and Philip moved to Florida for several years, where they made cherished memories and enjoyed a vibrant social life. Shirley especially loved playing darts with friends.

A lifelong traveler, Shirley delighted in seeing the world-taking 14 cruises, visiting Italy, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and making memorable bus trips to New York City to enjoy Broadway shows with friends. She also enjoyed reading, crafting, doing crossword puzzles, and was known for her incredible cooking-especially for feeding a crowd of whatever kids happened to stop by. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she adored family gatherings and any opportunity to go shopping.

Above all, Shirley was deeply proud of her family, especially her sons who both served in the military in Iraq. Her strength, generosity, and love will remain with all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her parents, a daughter Kathleen Hathaway, sisters Constance Goulet, and Lillian Labonte, and a grandson Aaron Lessard.

Survivors include her husband Philip Robichaud of Alfred, her children John Boucher and his wife Cheryl of Arundel, Karen Lessard of Biddeford, Kelly Mitchell and her husband Ralph of Sanford, Jessica Robichaud and her husband Terrence Knight of Arundel, Erica Robichaud, Michael Robichaud and Ryan Robichaud, grandchildren Kayla Boucher, Nathan Lessard, Alicia Chandler, Joshua Walker, Caitlin Foster Karalynn Mitchell, Natasha Scott, Gavin Jarish, Olivia Robichaud-Knight, Londyn Robichaud, great grandchildren, Elizabeth Chandler, Jacob Chandler, Noah Mulligan, and Neveah Mulligan.

At the family's request services will be private.
