Weldon, North Carolina

Miss. Shirley Diane Shearin, 66, of Weldon, North Carolina, passed away, peacefully, on September 15, 2025, at ECU Medical Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Born in Weldon, North Carolina, Shirley was a proud graduate of Weldon High School's Class of 1977. Her passion for learning led her to further her education, earning a degree in Information Systems from Halifax Community College and an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University.

Throughout her life, Shirley was a dedicated and hard worker. She was known for her attention to detail and she took that into her early work as a seamstress at the local sewing factory, Action Sportswear. She later took her considerable skillset to Cofield Funeral Home as an administrative assistant and concluded her career as a secretary at the Chamber of Commerce in Roanoke Rapids, North Carikuba where she was awarded as an "Outstanding Office Support Staff".

Shirley's commitment to her faith was evident in her longstanding membership at St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church of Weldon, North Carolina where she diligently served as the Assistant Finance Secretary for twenty plus years until God called her home.

Beyond her professional life and service to her church, Shirley enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She found joy in cooking; keeping her brain sharp with puzzles and challenging games; and the thrill of finding treasures at yard sales and thrift stores. Even after her tenure as a seamstress, she could often be found in her sewing room doing alterations and creating new projects. She also had a special fondness for historical dramas, which she affectionately called "My-Lord your Highness" movies, westerns, and anything with a good amount of action.

Shirley was happiest being surrounded by her family. She was a loving mother to her two sons, Travis Shearin, and Tevin Shearin; and an adored aunt to a host of nieces and nephews. She was regarded by many as easy to talk to and a safe space. She is now reunited with her beloved son, Travis, and her older brother Curtis Shearin, Jr.

Shirley will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted mother, Annie-Lee Shearin; son, Tevin Shearin (Jakia); cherished grandchildren, Allen-Traevon Hill, Teivion Shearin, Takaxia Shearin and Tessaiga Shearin; brother: Lorenzo Shearin (Annie); aunts and uncles: Frank Bynum, Mary Mitchum (Jimmy), and Esther Matthews (Willie) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Join us to honor her life during a visitation on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at H.D. Pope Funeral Home, located at 520 Smith Church Road, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 PM.
