Shirley Ann (Thuerbach) Thomas, 91, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at River Pointe Health Campus.
Shirley was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 26, 1934 to Herman William and Sadie Mary (Altmeier) Thuerbach. She was a military wife and was a former member of Sts. Mary and John Parish in Evansville and currently a member of The Church of Christ. Shirley enjoyed attending plays at the New Harmony Theatre. She was known for making delicious desserts and always making the holidays special for her loved ones. In her leisure, Shirley enjoyed reading books and listening to Country and Southern Gospel music. Above all, she adored and cherished her beloved family.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Julie Brown (Earl) of Newburgh, IN; sons, Steven Waters (Susan) of Cincinnati, OH, Michael Waters (Gayle) of Evansville, IN, and Patrick Waters of Chandler, IN, brother; Herman "Bill" Thuerbach (Jan) of Evansville, IN; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Thomas in 1996; her parents; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Waters.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Minister Jon Riley officiating.
Friends may visit from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2025 and again from 10:00 am until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
