Shirley Ann Turbyfill

Shirley Ann Turbyfill, age 83, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee passed away at her home on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Shirley was born in Carter County to the late Isaac and Clara (Shuffler) Hughes. In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Turbyfill; three brothers, Loy Hughes, JC Penny Hughes and Dean Hughes; and her first husband and father of her daughter, Vernon Crain.

Shirley retired from housekeeping at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Banner Elk and also at Roan Mountain Medical Center. She was of the Free Will Baptist faith and a member of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church. Shirley loved her cats and gardening, but her greatest love and joy was in her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren which were her life!

Those left to cherish and remember Shirley include her daughter, Kimberly Byrd and husband Randy; two grandchildren, Marcus Byrd and wife Brittany and Daranda Morgan and husband Jonathan; and five great grandchildren, Eowyn McCoury, Savannah McCoury, Anakin Morgan, Keturah Morgan and Annistyn Byrd.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel with Reverend Randy English and Reverend Tony Trott officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Friday.

The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2025 in the Greer Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home in Roan Mountain at 9:30 AM on Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
