Shirley Waters died peacefully in her home on August 14, 2025. She was the daughter of Samuel D. Wall and Annie K. Wall. Born December 17, 1936 in Robeson County NC. She is survived by one sister, Aileen Reese, of McLeansville NC.

Shirley was married to the love of her life, Albert A. Waters for 62 years before his death in 2020. They have three sons, Joseph A Waters and Terri of Greensboro; Stephen E. Waters and Kelly of Richmond, VA and Samuel Waters of Greensboro, NC. Shirley has three grandsons; Chandler McLaughlin of Greensboro, NC; Jackson and Gavin Waters of Richmond, VA.

Shirley attended Elon College as a young woman. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 25 years of service.

Shirley was a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She was a faithful Servant to her Lord. She will be dearly missed and remembered by those who knew her.

Shirley's life will be celebrated on August 29,2025 at 11:00 am at Saint Pius X Catholic Church, 2210 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Shirley's honor to Greensboro Urban Ministries.
