Shirley Watson, age 97, departed this Earthly Life on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. She is preceded in eternal life by her husband, Eugene Watson Jr; parents, Lorenza and Archie Cruse; 2 sisters, Ada McCallister and Audry Shanklin; and grandson, Nashid Watson.
Shirley is survived by her 5 children, Eugene Watson III (Shirley), Nadir Muhammad (Iris), Alan Watson, Amy Muhammad (Arron), and Carlton Watson (June); 15 Grandchildren: Sabu Watson, Kenya Adams (Tedvis), Syria Watson (Valdez), Libya Binford (Mitchell), Nadirah Stokes (Romero), Chakara Watson (Marcus), Khalid Watson (Torra), Shaheed Muhammad, Ameerah Watson, Hamid Watson (Jessica), Eugene Young, DurreShahwar Muhammad (Christopher), Sadiq Watson (Brittany), Akirah Muhammad, and Carla Watson; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Adele Johnson, Archie Cruse Jr (Margaret), Iley Cruse, and Linda Goode; godson, Christian Scott; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are all invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, January 30, 2025, 10:00AM, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 4533 Mendez St, NOLA. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the hour of service. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Bethany United Methodist Church, Professional Funeral Services, Compassus Hospice, and the many friends and family who sent flowers, made donations, or offered their condolences during this time.
