Obituary of Shirley J. Wiltshire
Shirley Jeanine Wiltshire, 88 of Clinton, IL, formerly of Plainview, IL, passed from this world into the arms of Jesus on Friday evening, March 21, 2025, at Liberty Village in Clinton, IL.
Shirley was born June 22, 1936, in Carlinville, IL, the only child of Ralph and Lora (Haycraft) Wheeler. Shirley graduated from Shipman High School with the class of 1954. She married Floyd "Mac" Wiltshire on December 19, 1954, at Shipman United Methodist Church.
She was a homemaker and helped Mac on the family farm. She was very good at clerical work as the secretary for the Shipman Elevator as well as the secretary and bookkeeper for John Deere in Carlinville. Shirley also worked at The Western (OLIN) in Alton, IL. She was a member of Shipman united Methodist Church. She liked bowling, gardening, making ceramics, knitting and playing games. Shirley was a member of several card clubs, greatly enjoying the time spent in that and on the many trips she and her husband made with their dear friends over the years She was an amazing cook, being able to stretch the meals to keep three very hungry boys satisfied. Shirley also cared for her parents and her aunt when their needs became urgent. One of her favorite things to do was to sit on the screened-in porch in the evenings to watch the deer and the quail come out to forage. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and aunt, Grace Wood.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, 9:00 to 11:00 am at Cross Church, Carlinville, IL.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Cross Church, Carlinville.
No burial services at this time.
Shirley is survived by her son, Wayne (Kathy) Wiltshire of Gillespie, IL, son, Bernard (Angela) Wiltshire of Heyworth, IL, son, Tim (Victoria) Wiltshire of Aurora, IL, grandchildren, Jared and Carley Wiltshire of Heyworth, IL, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Memorials may be made to Shipman United Methodist Church.
