Shyhiem "Shy" also known by his handle "Oogie Boogie" Carter, born on September 27th 1994, to his loving mother, Tammie R. Carter and loving father, Lawrence Carter, Jr. He passed away
unexpectedly on Friday August 23, 2024, at the age of 29. Shyhiem was a beloved husband, son, uncle, brother, and friend. Whose warmth, generosity, and spirited personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Shy had a profound love for the outdoors, where he found peace and joy in nature. He was a dedicated member of Riceboro Sportsman Club. Whether it was riding his motorcycle down open roads or spending quality time with his family, Shy lived life with passion and purpose. His love for adventure and the simple pleasures in life was infectious, and those who knew him admired his zest for life.
Raised in Liberty County, Shy attended school within the Liberty County school system, where he laid the foundation for the values and work ethic that would define his life.
A dedicated public servant, Shyhiem spent time as a firefighter for the Pooler Fire Department, Walthourville Fire Department, and volunteered for Midway Fire Department. He spent time as a Deputy for the Liberty County Sheriff's Department. His commitment to the essential community reflected his profound care for life and people. Shy was not just a protector, but a true embodiment of service and compassion, always ready to help those in need.
In 2017 Shy found his true love in Cassie, and the two were married in October 2022. Their bond was a testament to his caring and loving nature, and they built a life filled with love and shared dreams.
Shy was also an active member of his community, belonging to Hinesville Masonic lodge 271 and Thebes AME church. His involvement in these organizations showcased his dedication to fellowship, faith and service.
Later in life, Shy found a new calling with the electric company, where he continued to bring his hardworking spirit to Coastal EMC until his untimely passing. His colleagues remember him as a skilled and reliable lineman who approached his work with dedication and enthusiasm.
Above all, Shyhiem was known for his giving nature. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. His caring heart and loving spirit touched many lives, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Midway, Georgia, Beverly Dowers, Josephine Roberts, both of Hinesville, Georgia, Deloris (Lewis) Wynn, JoeEtta Williams, both of Riceboro, Georgia, Peggy (Andrew) Carter of Brunswick, Georgia; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; his extended family of Upstate New York; All of his countless friends.
