Sidney Allen Colyer, age 89, of Cookeville, TN passed away Saturday October 18, 2025, at Smith County Health and Rehab Center in Carthage, TN.
Mr. Colyer was born on August 25, 1936, in Weir, KS to the late Sidney and Barbara Wilkinson Colyer. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Marie and two brothers: Stuart and Bob Colyer.
Mr. Colyer retired twice, once from General Motors after 30 years and Home Depot after 24 years. He was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking making rocking chairs and cradles.
Mr. Colyer is survived by his children: David and wife Sheridan of MI, Whitney and husband Martin Mapes of Cookeville, TN, Bradley and wife Angela of MI.
Two brothers: Ronnie and wife Carroll of SC, and John of MI, one sister: Hariett Sidock of MI and bother-in-law Ernest Hickey
Eight grandchildren:
Andrew Colyer, Chelsea and Matthew Parker, Desiree and Alan Ferguson, Spensir and McKenzie Mapes, Sarah and Cameron Jones, Anthony and Lacy Mapes, Hanna Colyer, Hailey Mapes and husband Ryan Good. 15 great-grandchildren.
Two very special cousins, Bill and Sharon Hunter. Bill and Sidney were fishing partners and Partners in Crime. Mr. Colyer was God Father to Rachel Miller. A host of nieces and nephews and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
Crest Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
