Funeral services for Mr. Sidney Larry Martin, 73, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 22, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe with Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Martin was an Air Force Veteran. He worked at Monroe Police Department for over 33 years and retired as a Major. Later he worked at the District Attorney’s office for over 16 years. He loved anything that dealt with LSU all athletics and when he was in the hospital he told the nurses, get ready I bleed Purple and Gold. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney G. and Annie Johnston Martin; and two sons, Robert Chad Martin and Troy Allen Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Tammy Parker Martin; children, Sidney Ryan Martin and wife Beth, William Clint Martin and wife Jessica, and Christopher Lance Martin and wife Kelcie; grandchildren, Sydney Martin, Blake Martin, Kinley Martin, Emersyn Martin, Carter Martin, Hutton Martin, Gavin Martin, and Gabe Green; two great grandsons, Hudson Boyd and Bennett Boyd; two sisters, Carolyn Williams and husband Billy and Marilyn Hughes and husband David; and his two K9 Companions, Piper and Martin.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Coon, Caleb Luffey, Seth Parker, Blake Martin, Darren Guess, and Gary Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Sidney Ryan Martin, William Clint Martin, and Christopher Lance Martin.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
