Silas Cheek Jr.

Mr. Silas Cheek Jr. age 86 of Tazewell, TN was born January 15, 1938 and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. He was the son of the late Silas and Avery Cheek. Junior was saved at an early age and was a member of Blair's Creek Baptist Church. He graduated from Claiborne County High School in 1958. He enjoyed his 65th class reunion with his friends and classmates. After graduating from High School, he enrolled in vocational school for wood working, that he enjoyed doing. After his completion in school he went to work for the Reverend C.W.Gose making custom cabinets for homes. He worked for Norris Homes and retired from Clayton Mobile Homes after 39 years. Junior was an avid UT sports fan.
He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Brother Dean Cheek, Son-in-law: Buster Cupp, and Sister-in-law: Erma Barry.
He is survived by his wife: Judy Gilbert Cheek
Daughters: Karen and husband David Singleton
Angela Cupp.
Granddaughter: Summer Singleton and fiancée Ben Lewis
Great Grandson: Dylan Buis and Brittany Williams
Great Granddaughter: Destinie Upton
Great Great Granddaughter: Willow Buis
Several Cousins and many other relatives and friends.
He will be missed by his three furry friends: Blue, Tiger and Sam
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 12 Noon until 1PM with funeral services to follow at 1PM in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Cole, Rev. Clint Hatfield, and Rev. Eddie Overholt officiating. Music will be provided by Barbara Hatfield, Clint Hatfield and David Painter.
Pallbearers will be Family and friends.
Graveside services will follow in the DeBusk Family Cemetery on Baldwin Road.
