Simona Rodriguez, age 89, of Ralls, TX, passed away on September 25, 2025. She was born on October 28, 1935, near Lytton Springs, TX to Ermogenes and Josephina Cruz Rodriguez, and was the second oldest of twelve.

Simona made history in 1957 by becoming the first Hispanic graduate of Ralls High School. Throughout her remarkable 50-year career as a bank teller in Ralls, she was known for her service and touched the lives of countless customers and colleagues. As a dedicated member of St. Michael Catholic Church, in the 1950's she was elected the first president of the Hijas de Maria organization, later to become a Catechist, and a Guadalupana.

Simona was a skilled seamstress and baker and used her talents to provide gifts to her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and gave seeds and bulbs so others could enjoy. Those who knew her will remember her passion for walking, camping, and chopping wood for meals and campfires to bring warmth to her loved ones.

She is survived by her two brothers, Henry Rodriguez (Aurora) of Lubbock and Domingo Rodriguez (Peggy) of Pampa; her seven sisters, Julia Flores and Tina Cavazos of Ralls, Polly Perez of Lubbock, Janie Olivan of Odessa, Mary Almager and Beatrice Haynes of Levelland, and Ana Rodriguez of Slaton, along with fifty-one nieces and nephews, one hundred and twenty-seven great nieces and nephews, and thirty-nine great great nieces and nephews.

Simona was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joaquin and Victor Rodriguez.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Mike Rodriguez, Chris Ramirez, Mateo Cavazos, Bobby Rodriguez, Johnny Haynes, and Caleb Cavazos.

Simona generously donated to various organizations, so in lieu of flowers, donate to your favorite charity.
