Sochant Hem

Sochant Hem, of Conroe, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 10th, 2023 at the age of 79. He was born April 1, 1944 to parents, Hem Cheng and Chou Lee, in Kampong Cham, Cambodia.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sinvary An; his son, Vong Hem, daughter-in-law Michelle Hem and grandson Parker Hem; family Ro Chea, Sarim Chea, Metha Chea, Alex Chea, Matiny Chea, Hong Hem, Keolay Neang, Karana Hem, John Hoang, Monysila Hem, Lamon Thun, Samrith Ung, Chenda Mao, Rath Chheng and Vouchnea Prum; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends in the United States and Cambodia.
Sochant was born and raised in Cambodia on a tobacco farm. Just like other Cambodians he fled with his wife and siblings during the Khmer Rouge to Khao-I-Dang in 1980. In 1983, Sochant and his wife moved to the United States, settling in Fort Worth, Texas, where their son was born. In 1997, the family moved to Conroe, Texas, where they enjoyed many wonderful years together.
Sochant's interests included entrepreneurship, real estate and golfing. His greatest joy came from helping others and spending time with his family.
A visitation and celebration of life will be held to honor Sochant Saturday, June 24th from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at McNutt Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas.
