Leak Hem

Leak Hem, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Heom Chom, with whom he shared over 65 memorable years of marriage until her passing in 2023.
Born in Cambodia, Leak's life journey was one of remarkable courage and resilience. He faced and overcame numerous challenges that would have daunted the faint of heart, ultimately finding a new home and building a life in the United States. His experiences and strength of character became a source of inspiration for all who knew him.
Leak was a dedicated family man who worked tirelessly to provide a better life for his wife and children. He was an assembler in the manufacturing industry for most of his life. His greatest joy came from helping others. He was well respected in the temple community, where he devoted much of his extra time. He was incredibly resourceful and took pleasure in working with his hands, always ready to lend a hand to those in need.
He is survived by his two daughters Ron Peov (Hak Peov) of Woonsocket and Sambou Leak (Kheang Seng) of Woonsocket. He was the father of the late Bruce Sin Leak. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Vanny of Woonsocket, Vannak (Jay) of Woonsocket, Vannary (David) of Lincoln, Tiffany (Dan) of Lincoln, Jonathan of Woonsocket, Emily of Woonsocket, Jeffrey of Cranston, Richmond of Woonsocket and Jillian of Woonsocket and four great-grandchildren: Jak, Austin, Camille and Donnie. He is predeceased by eight siblings.
The blessing ceremony and wake will take place at Dhamagosnaram Buddhist Temple, 2870 Plainfield Pike, Johnston, RI 02921 Friday, August 9, at 5:00 p.m. and Buddhist Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. Buddhist Prayers will take place at the temple on Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. followed with a procession to Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m.
