Solange Jorgelina "Abuela" Alvarez

Solange J. Alvarez "Abuela", 92, of Ocala, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 22, 2025.

She was born in Cuba on April 19, 1933, to Fidel De Paula and Faustina De Paula Perez. She graduated in Cuba with a degree in Education and became a teacher. She married Luis Alvarez Moreira on September 19, 1953.

In the early years of her life, she courageously left Cuba in search of a better future for her family. She lived for many years in Puerto Rico. In 2014, she came to live in Florida, where she spent her final years surrounded by her loved ones.

Solange was known for her strong work ethic, resilience, and unwavering faith. She was deeply devoted to her family, always putting them first, and she never forgot to remember the birthdays of those she loved. Her greatest joy was her family, and her legacy of love, sacrifice, and dedication will live on through all who were blessed to know her.

Solange is survived by granddaughter, Tania M. Alvarez (Steven Perez); great-granddaughter, Lyanni A. Alvarez; daughter-in-law, Veda M. Rivera "Marlene"; siblings, Cristobal De Paula "Chan" and Laura Azcue "Laurita"; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Luis Alvarez Moreira; her children, Jorge L. Alvarez and Nicole Alvarez; grandson, Jorge L. Alvarez "Jorgito"; and siblings Aurelio De Paula "Yeyo", Hildelisa Del Valle "Hilde", and Teresa Alo.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Baldwin Brothers A Funeral & Cremation Society, 11250 SW 93RD Court Rd Suite 300 Ocala, FL 34481.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones in heaven, and her memory will be cherished forever.
