Soledad Ahumada, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away on December 26, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 94. Born on October 26, 1930, Soledad's life was a testament to the strength and resilience of a devoted mother and a cherished member of her community.
She is survived by her loving children, Juan Ahumada and his wife Irma, James Alvarez, Rosa Rodriguez, Benito Alvarez, Jr., and Salvador Alvarez with his wife Melissa. Soledad's legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Joshua and his girlfriend Amy, Juan A. and his wife Amber, Audrey and her boyfriend Wes, Priscilla and her husband Andrew, Michael, Benito III, Pamela, Christian, and Joaquin; and her treasured great-grandchildren, John Paul, Jonathan and Brandon, Amaris, Ariel, Emma, Andrew, Iris, and Elijah. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Maria Gomez and her husband Blas, and sister-in-law, Juana Maria vda. de Ahumada.
Soledad was preceded in death by her son, Guadalupe Arturo Alvarez; her granddaughter, Chloe Alvarez; her parents, Gregorio and Maria de Jesus Ahumada; her sister, Juana Garcia and her husband Epifiano; and her brother, Pablo Ahumada. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her loved ones who passed before her.
A hardworking single mother, Soledad dedicated her life to her children, embodying the very essence of love and kindness. She was a woman of great faith, a God-fearing Catholic who instilled the values of compassion and generosity in all those around her. Soledad's hands were rarely still, as she found joy in crocheting, creating beautiful pieces for her family and friends. Her love for old Mexican movies was well-known, as she would often reminisce about the classic tales and melodies that resonated with her heritage.
Soledad's unwavering commitment to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She was the cornerstone of her family, always putting the needs of her children and grandchildren above her own. Her selfless nature was a guiding light, inspiring those around her to act with kindness and humility.
Her presence was a comfort, her smile a symbol of the warmth and affection she so freely gave. Soledad's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of dedication, sacrifice, and an unending love for her family. She was the epitome of what it means to be family-oriented, and her influence will be felt for generations to come.

Soledad's family will receive condolences on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, a funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 11:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park at 1:00 PM.
