Sondra Lee Teska, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 1:55 p.m. She was born on October 7, 1938, in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Charles Lynn Terrel and Lela Fern (Heaston) Terrel.
Sondra was united in marriage to Roger G. Teska, who preceded her in death on April 29, 2025. Together, they shared a devoted and private life filled with travel, music, and companionship.
She is survived by her two stepsons, Saul Teska and his wife Caraline, and Roman David Teska; her brother, Mark Terrel, and his wife Dencita; her brother-in-law, Lowell Teska, and his wife Kerry; her step-grandchildren, Ewan Teska and Maddie Teska; her nieces, Amy Kinsey and Sarah Moerchen (Peter); and her nephews, Matthew Charles Terrel (Jessica) and John Mark Terrel (Jennifer). She is also lovingly remembered by her great-nieces, Samantha Terrel, Hailey Kinsey, and Aaliyah Kinsey; and her great-nephews, Xavier Kinsey, Lucas Kinsey, Joshua Fullerton, and Jacob Fullerton.
Sondra dedicated her career to education as a high school teacher. Her love of music began early—at just seven years old, she performed piano on stage before a live audience. While attending Huntington High School, she was a member of both the choir and the Swing Choir, performing concerts for community organizations. She also played the clarinet and violin. She later studied vocal performance at Manchester College with aspirations of becoming an opera singer, and went on to earn both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Purdue University.
Her life was forever changed when she met Roger. They married and built a life together, traveling extensively around the world until Roger’s health declined in 2020. Sondra joined him in eternal rest just three months after his passing.
Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, Sondra remained deeply engaged in the arts. She supported local theater productions and shared with Roger a lifelong love of classical music.
