Mrs. Sonia Theresa Blake

Mrs. Sonia Theresa Blake, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on October 26, 1944, in Kingston, Jamaica, the only child of the late William Miller and Roslyn Hall.

Educated in Kingston, Sonia later worked as a production worker at the Mee Johnson Factory. It was in Jamaica where she met the love of her life, Barrington Blake, and the two were united in holy matrimony. Their union was blessed with six children, Peter, Roderick, Rose, Angela, Lloyd and Nichola.

In 1984, Sonia and Barrington migrated to the United States of America to begin a new chapter of their lives. Sonia devoted many years of service at the Homestead Nursing Home, where she worked with care and dedication, until her retirement at the age of 65.

On August 21, 2025, Sonia gained her wings. Though her family wished she could stay, they find comfort in knowing that God had other plans and welcomed her home.

Sonia leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Barrington Blake; her six children, fifteen cherished grandchildren, Jade, Donavan, Jolee, Zander, Xander, Kristopher, Kristina, Jordan, Hunter, Elise, Angelica, Brianna, Michelle, Marcus, and Davon; three treasured great grandchildren; Asia, Messiah, and Kyrie. She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Randall, Tracy, and Fredrico; her daughters-in-law, Andrea, Amica, Sharon, Karen, and Jasmine, she leaves her loving Church family under the leadership of her Apostle and First Lady, as well as a host of extended family and friends, who will deeply miss her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Burden's Funeral Home. Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Burden's Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service hour. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Pastor Kevin D. Hope will Officiate and Apostle Theodis F. Holmes is the Eulogist.

Mrs. Sonia Theresa Blake will forever be remembered for her love, strength, faith, and devotion to her family and community. Her legacy will continue to live on in the lives of all those who were blessed to know her.
