With heavy hearts yet with grateful spirits, we announce the passing of Sonia Burchard, a beloved mother, sister, daughter, friend, and a deeply faithful member of the White Plains, NY community. Sonia passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Slovakia on June 17, 1950, Sonia's adventurous spirit brought her to the United States at a young age. She embraced her new life with courage and determination, creating a legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family and faith. This faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through every challenge and joy she encountered.
Sonia was the loving sister of Vlado and Igor, sharing with them a bond that was deep and enduring. As a devoted daughter, she maintained a close relationship with her mother, speaking with her almost daily, exemplifying her deep family values and her caring nature.
Her professional life included impactful roles as a debt manager and, more recently, a bookkeeper. In each role, she brought a sense of integrity and commitment, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
However, it was her role as a mother to her sons, Michael and Steven Burchard, that defined her most profoundly. Sonia's love for her sons was boundless and unwavering. She instilled in them values of strength, compassion, and the importance of family. Her guidance and love will forever be a guiding light in their lives.
An embodiment of selfless giving and strong Catholic values, Sonia believed it was her duty to help others whenever possible. Her charitable spirit was evident in her countless acts of kindness, always believing in giving what she could to support those in need.
As we celebrate Sonia's extraordinary life, we invite friends, family, and community members to join us in remembering a life lived with purpose and faith.
As we bid farewell to Sonia, we hold on to the cherished memories and the profound impact she had on our lives. Her spirit continues to inspire and guide us. In her memory, we are reminded of the words of Scripture, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
