Sonja Elizabeth Zischang, 88, of Souderton, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in her home that she loved.
Born in 1935, Sonja was the daughter of the late Alfred E. and Elizabeth (Goller) Zischang.
Sonja's parents arrived in America by ship from Germany in 1930. She grew up on a farm with her parents and brothers. In her younger years, she had memories of walking to school along Bergey Road and throughout the fields.
She worked for many years as a seamstress for the former Sunlite Shop in Souderton along with her brother Alfred, whom she would often call the smartest man she ever knew.
Sonja shared many memories of her family life, including seeing her dad drive a tractor on the farm. She loved her mother's cooking and would refer to her as the best cook ever. She also enjoyed going out dancing with her brother George on the weekends.
Sonja felt at peace when she was able to attend church. She loved to just sit and listen. She appreciated her friends Pastor John Reeser, Linda and Frank, Sirianni and Paulette Vernachio, and she was grateful to them.
Sonja is survived by her nephews, Michael Zischang, Jeffrey Zischang, David Zischang (Chris), and Scott Zischang (Terri); and her niece, Bonnie Berry (Steve).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George and Alfred Zischang, Jr.; and her companion, Robert Passehl, Sr.
She was loved and will be missed.
A visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.
