Edward (Sonny) Dewayne Lynch, 82, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family Oct. 22, 2025, in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Sonny was born to George and Notra Lynch on Aug. 1, 1943, west of Edmond. He was a graduate of Deer Creek High School in 1961. Sonny met the love of his life in 1963, Wilma Huff, and they were married in Guthrie, Oklahoma, on Dec. 22, 1964. He began serving in the Army National Guard in 1964 while also working for Mustang Fuel and retired as a gas measurement superintendent in 1999.

Sonny and Wilma welcomed their first son, Richard Dewayne (Rick), on April 22, 1967 and their second son, Eric Edward, on July 8, 1974. They lived in the Deer Creek area from 1967 until 2003 when they moved to Meridian, where they enjoyed raising cattle and taking care of the land after retirement. Sonny enjoyed bird hunting with his friends, spending time with family and restoring his 1955 Chevrolet.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, George and Notra; and his oldest son, Rick.

He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Wilma; his youngest son, Eric and wife Sara; his five grandchildren, Ryan and fiancee Elizabeth, Logan and wife Theresa, Kacie and husband James, Cameron and wife Haley, and Jacob and three great-grandchildren; and his brother, George W. Lynch and wife Barbara; and his three nieces, Michelle, Melissa, and Monica.

Funeral services for Sonny will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at First Assembly of God Church located at 1900 South Division Street in Guthrie with Terry Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Cashion Cemetery in Cashion, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st Street, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org or be mailed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
