Sonya Gay Spencer
Sonya Gay Spencer, wife of Billy Nick Spencer and the daughter of Ralph Gross and Laura Watkins Keith was born in Campton, Kentucky on March 2, 1963 and departed this life in Lexington, Kentucky on April 22, 2024 at the age of 61 years, 1 month, and 20 days. She was a former librarian at Lee County Public Library and a member of the Canyon Falls Evangelical Congregational Church.
Sonya is survived by her husband Billy Spencer; her mother, Laura Watkins Keith both of Beattyville, Kentucky; her father, Ralph Gross of Lexington, Kentucky; two children, Ashley Nicole Smith and husband Derrick of Beattyville and Billy Nick Spencer, Jr. "BJ" and wife Megan of Corbin, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Parker Bryce and Paisley Grace Smith both of Beattyville, and Sawyer Cruz Spencer of Corbin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Darrell and Joe.
Derrick Smith, Billy Nick Spencer, Jr. "BJ", Parker Smith, Randall Combs, Brandon Hobbs, Matthew Johnson, Tim Angel, and Tommy Hall have the honor of serving as pallbearers.
