Sophia Ellen Watson, lovingly known as “Sophie,” was born on May 29, 2018, and left this world into the perfect arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on August 20, 2024.
In her brief but miraculous six years, Sophie brought immense joy to everyone she met. Her infectious smile could light up any room and her presence was a daily blessing. She enjoyed floating in any body of water, going to school or church, and listening to her favorite musician, Lauren Daigle.
Sophie’s life was indeed a miracle! In 2020, after 2 years of testing and specialist visits, she was diagnosed with a rare terminal condition, PDHA1. Only a few hundred children have been diagnosed with this condition. Sophie was a warrior and fought everyday with the care of her family, therapists, and teachers at both High Hopes and her local elementary school, to stay on this earth as long as she did.
Sophie was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Dale Neal.
Sophie is survived by her loving parents, Clay and Kelly Watson, and her siblings, Savannah and Jack. She was deeply loved by her grandparents, John and Connie Watson of Franklin, TN, and Mike and Susan Neal of Murfreesboro, TN. She also leaves behind her aunts and uncles: Tiffany (Nathan) Watson Lankford, Tucker (Brittney) Watson, Megan (David) Neal Whitson, Sean (Patten) Neal, and Katie Smith; along with numerous cousins, extended family, and a host of friends, teachers, therapists, and church family.
A celebration of Sophie’s life will be held at Thompson Station Church, located at 2604 Thompson’s Station Rd E, Thompson’s Station, TN, on August 23, 2024 at 5PM. Doors will open to the public at 4:00pm
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sophie’s memory to High Hopes Development Center, 301 High Hopes Court, Franklin, TN 37064.
