Spencer, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home at New Perspectives Assisted Living in Cloquet, MN. He was born in Marengo, Iowa to Edna (Starry) and S. Terry Randall in 1935.

He grew up in Marengo, Iowa, and graduated from Marengo High School in1953. He started his career welding and working on racing boat motors. He served two years in the United States Army. He was lucky enough to celebrate Hawaii's statehood in 1959 while stationed there. After his military service, he married Kathy Falk (Jansma) and moved to Albert Lea, MN where they started a family and had two daughters. He worked in commercial shelving sales at Streater Industries for 18 years. Spencer later moved to California for 25 years in the Central Valley to work for Shipman Industries continuing his work in sales. Spencer had a gift for making conversation with anyone and negotiating "the deal".

While in California, he developed a passion for wine and shared that hobby with his family and friends. Spencer looked forward to annual wine tasting trips with family in his retirement. Spencer also loved fishing his whole life whether it was catfish in Iowa, trout in California, walleyes on Mille Lacs, pike at his cabin on Upper Mission Lake and lake trout in Crow Lake, Canada. He enjoyed being with his family and extended family for holidays and special occasions where he shared his love of California by bringing wine and chocolate covered raisins.

After retiring, Spencer moved back to the Proctor area to be near family and loved being with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching many high school soccer and baseball games. In his later years, he moved to New Perspectives in Cloquet and found friendships with residents and caretakers. Spencer also loved to go on car rides to see the fall colors and a trip to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard.

We are grateful to AEOA's Meals on Wheels program, the kind and thoughtful staff at New Perspectives, and the hospice team at St. Croix Hospice who made his final years and months happy and comfortable.

He is survived by his daughters Beth Hyser (Paul), Sue Johnson, grandchildren Raija Johnson, Matt Johnson, Mae Hyser and Janie Packowski (James), nieces Andrea McKinney (Jerry), and Michelle Berg. Preceded in death by sister, Mary Ellen, son in law Dylan Johnson, and parents Edna and S. Terry Randall.

There will be no service and the family internment is planned for next summer in Iowa. The family appreciates memorial donations to Second Harvest Heartland - Second Harvest Heartland or AEOA Senior Nutrition to serve regional seniors call Jill at 218-748-7337.
