Stacey Joe Nichols, 50, passed away Saturday November 16th, 2024, at his home. Joe was born February 25th, 1974, to Lois Lorean (Vest) Nichols and Lloyd Nichols in Bloomington. Joe graduated from Bloomington High School North in 1994, and he left his mark on the educators there. The autobody instructor for Hoosier Hills cried when it was time for Joe to move on to the next stage of life. After graduation Joe would continue to pursue the field of autobody and enroll at Ivy Tech Community College. College plans were placed on hold because he was about to receive his biggest blessing, his son Matt Nichols.
Joe would later get a job at Big Red Pest Control in Bloomington. Joe's ability to work with the public and strive for excellence would cause him to gain recognition. After many years Joe would leave the company and begin working with his long-time friend at Bob Jones Radiator Repair on the south side of Bloomington. Joe's work ethic was unmatched. Joe loved attending live shows and bringing family with him. He was the kindest human, often giving away things he made or the shirts off his back. Joe always had a vast knowledge of the unknown and alien life. The late-night conversations about UFOs will be missed immensely by many.
Joe leaves behind his world and son Matt Nichols, his mother Lois Nichols (Vest), his sister Doris "Dee" Nichols, brother in- law Donnie Mullis, niece Destiny Mullis, nephew Devon Mullis, uncle Donald (Terry) Bowman, aunt Sally Vest, aunt and secondary Mother Sandra Lea Vest, cousin and secondary sister Janie Kay Leffel (Sean), cousins Danny Vest, David Vest, Cynthia Davis- Podgorski, Kathy Osborne, Michael Osborne, amongst many more.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents James David Vest, Mary Lena (Lush) Vest, his father, uncles Jackie Ray Vest, Charles David Vest, Willard Blake Vest, Warren Bowman, and Larry Livingston. His aunts Goldie Lee Cummings (Vest), Mary Godsey (Vest), Phyllis Ann Vest, Carol Vest, Patty Darlene Patton (Vest), and Karen Davis. Along with cousins Willard Dale Vest and Mary Ann (Vest) Godsey.
Words cannot express the gravity of the loss of Joe; to say he would be missed by many would be an understatement. Joe was also a very talented artist, his ability to bring an idea to life on paper was that unlike any other.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to donate to local drug rehabilitation organizations, Thank you.
