Stacie Lynn Abbas passed away on March 9, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Her Celebration of Life was on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 1 pm at the Geddes Community Methodist Church, Geddes, SD led by Pastor Joleen Pietrzak.
Stacie Lynn was the only daughter of Duane and Sandie Aymar born on November 11, 1974. She has one older brother, Dwight. She grew up on the family farm northwest of Miller, SD. Stacie developed an early appreciation for raising and showing livestock. She was very involved in 4-H and in Future Farmers of America (FFA) during her grade school and high school years. She served as the reporter for the Miller FFA chapter. Stacie received the prestigious State FFA Degree. Following her high school graduation in 1993, Stacie was elected to serve as State Reporter for the South Dakota FFA. She was also awarded the American FFA Degree, the highest honor an FFA member can achieve.
Stacie was most proud of the work she put into her livestock. She raised pigs and sheep. She had the most success with her sheep showing them at the State Fair in Huron, SD each year she was in high school. She won several purple ribbons and other awards for showing her sheep.
Stacie's career path went in several directions for a few years after she served as a state FFA officer. She found her best career path when she began working for Esurance in Sioux Falls in 1997. She made many friends during her time working as a customer service representative and then as a Quality Assurance Supervisor. She loved her work there and was very good at it.
While working at Esurance, in the fall of 2004, Stacie met Shawn Abbas through match.com. Shawn and Stacie dated for almost a year before getting engaged on September 11, 2005. Stacie and Shawn were married on April 22, 2006, at New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center, IA.
Stacie and Shawn lived in Sioux Falls, SD after they were married. They were blessed with their first child, a boy, Austin Henry Abbas, on March 16, 2007. Their daughter, Kassandra Mae Abbas, was born December 26, 2008. Their third child, a son, Xavier Jaxxon Abbas, was born July 22, 2010.
After much conversation and prayer, Stacie and Shawn agreed Shawn should enter the seminary. Shawn began his studies in February 2012, graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in May 2016 and was ordained as a pastor in March 2017, thus, Stacie became a pastor's wife. Stacie and Shawn did ministry together. Shawn is the public figure. Stacie gave much guidance and direction, praying a lot, which has made Shawn a better pastor.
Again, with much prayer and conversation, Stacie and Shawn made the decision to homeschool their children beginning in the Fall of 2014. Stacie left her successful position at Esurance to fulfill the calling to teach and train her children. This was a decision God continues to bless for their family.
Stacie, Shawn and the kids have been a part of three communities as Stacie and Shawn worked together in ministry. Stacie made some true friends in these communities as she built relationships with various individuals and families. The Abbas family lived and served in Westfield and Hull, ND from January 2017 to July 2021, then in Eureka, SD from July 2021 to October 2024, and now serving in Geddes, SD since October 2024.
Stacie was preceded in death by her mother, Sandie Aymar; her paternal great-grandparents, Henry and Mabel Aymar; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Doris Aymar; maternal grandparents, Henry and Henrietta Schuldt; maternal grandmother, Henrietta Tille; mother-in-law, Sharon Abbas.
