Stan as he was known by to everyone was born June 8, 1959 to Mary Pollack Fusselman and Stanley Fusselman. He was an active youngster enjoying many sports including the famous Sherwood Drive stick ball games played until dark with the neighborhood boys that included The Foxes, the Burtons, the Sargeants, Berg, the Laceys, Perinos, and Nelsons; many who remained friends thru his whole life. He attended St.Anthony school for awhile, and finished his childhood education in the Nanuet Schools.
He attended Oneonta, but decided he would find his life vocation outside of college. He was very bright and could fix almost anything, just like his dad. He had all kinds of tools and the latest in gadgets that he kept in pristine condition.Later in life, he took classes on the computer and was the tech "fix-it"man for the neighborhood. Stan was blessed to have good friends Richard Gregory and Tom Semeti who stood by him when the road got really rough. and caring neighbors, Annemarie and Chris Paquette, Jack and Val Barnickle and Pete and Debbie Miley who brought him food, took him to doctor's visits and physically helped to take care of his needs.
Stan loved adventures. He had several motorcycles and took excursions with some of his friends. He loved canoeing up in the Seven Lakes of Harriman Park. He and his dad enjoyed motor boating and would go out on the Hudson River for a day of sun and fun times. He was awed by the trip to Poland that he took with his mom. He met many of his relatives from the motherland for the first time and enjoyed immersing himself in the culture of his heritage. He and his mom also took road trips to upstate New York near the Finger Lakes region to visit with his uncle and cousins. Stan created a little entertainment center in his outside shed and he and his friends would play lots of card games and watch movies.
He was a fanatic when it came to precision and neatness. His mother always remarked that his room was so well kept and everything was "just so". As an adult Stan continued this trait as was seen in the way he kept his lawn, trimmed his bushes weekly and was almost always the first to clear the snow with his leaf blower right down to the bare pavement.
Stan enjoyed cooking. In recent years, he experimented with different recipes and tried to recreate some old-style Polish dishes that his mother made, including her poppy seed cake and stuffed cabbage. He was pretty proud that he was able to prepare them very close to his mom's cooking as he remembered.
Stan loved his Jack Russell Terriers. He cherished "Buddy" and "Jack". They were his children, his companions and he always spoke to them as if he was their dad. Everyone in Nanuet may not have known Stan's name, but they knew the man who rode his bicycle with his dog in tow through the town of Nanuet.
Stan was fortunate to possess a vehicle for almost each season. During the winter, he would drive his truck, the summer and spring were Corvette season and then his BMW was reserved for special events. During the last years of his life, he enjoyed weekly cruising through the Shawangunk Mountains in Ulster, Sullivan and Orange counties with Jack in the front seat by his side. These trips with his dog brought him great peace and memories thru the last days of his life. May Stan rest in peace reunited with his mom and dad.
