Stanley W. Gobrecht, 77, of Belmont, Wisconsin became an angel with loving family by his side, at UW-Madison Hospital & Clinics Thursday, March 28, 2024. Husband, Dad, Uncle, and Friend, will be dearly missed
Stan was born January 22, 1947, the son of Walter and Mary (Niehaus) Gobrecht. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1965 and completed the Farmer's Short Course in UW-Madison. Stan was united in marriage to Maureen "Trudy" Clark, June 5, 1987.
Stan grew up on the family farm in Belmont. He was an easy-going and loving soul. His passions were farming, horseback riding, school bus driving, country dancing, being a member and officer of the All-Star Country Dance Club, traveling, and church missions. Stan was a life-long member of Peace Lutheran Church in Platteville. He traveled with Habitat for Humanity to Guatemala. Stan took many horseback riding trips out West, with the Badlands, his favorite. Stan was a loving family man. He will always be remembered as a amazingly kind, caring, and compassionate person.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Maureen "Trudy" Gobrecht, of Belmont; daughters Christina Gobrecht, of Muscoda, WI, and Valerie Gobrecht, of Belmont; by his wife's siblings, Greg Clark, of Trevor, WI, Tracy (Rodney Sr.) Rote, of Marengo, IL, and Barbara (Wayne) Wasmund, of Galena, IL; nieces and nephews, Deeanne (Randy) Rupp, of Rewey, Troy(Julie) Durni, of Dodgeville, Mary (Kevin) Durni, of Tomah, WI, Jon (Gina) Durni, of Sun Prarie, WI, Brooklynn Clark, of Dubuque, IA, Ben Wasmund, of Schapville, IL, LeeAnn (John) Price, of Oregon, IL, Tarah (Tanner) Manon, of Fenton, IL, Rodney Rote Jr, of Albuquerque, NM, and Randy Rote, of Genoa, IL; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Marilyn and her husband, Tony Newberry; and in-laws, George and Shirley Clark.
The Gobrecht family would like to thank Dr. John Whalen for his truly outstanding care of Stan throughout the years, along with, the staff and doctors of the UW-Hospital & Clinics Trauma and Life Support Center for their special care and kindness, plus the Finley Hospital and Homeward Bound caring staffs.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the National Kidney Foundation or Peace Lutheran Church in Stan's name.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, at Peace Lutheran Church, in Platteville. Pastor Jasmine Tesdahl will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville following the service. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
