STANLEY ROMAULD WILMES, age 89, of St. Clair died on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Stanley was born in LeRay Township, Blue Earth County, on October 19, 1935, to Arthur and Verna (Fischer) Wilmes. He attended Tivoli and Eagle Lake schools and graduated from Mankato High School with the class of 1953. On August 2, 1955, Stanley was married to Delores Linde at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. Following his education and over the years, Stanley drove truck for Madison Lake Creamery, Sids Farm Supply in Mankato, and Nachbar Feed & Grain but most notably worked for Hubbard Mill for thirty-two years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed hobby farming, tending to his garden, restoring tractors and woodworking. He was an avid fisherman and competitive card player. Stanley’s young spirit never aged, he was always curious and learning. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in St. Clair for more than 50 years and he will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
Stanley is survived by his children, Steven (Cheryle) Wilmes of St. Clair, Janelle (Jim) Prochaska of Mankato, and Kristine (Carl) Brown of Walker; four grandchildren, Christi Wilmes, Daniel Wilmes, Andy Wendt (Tiffany), Alyssa (Taylor) Nesmoe; 10 great grandchildren, Jordan, Braxton, Addison, Ashton, Devin, KJ, Avery, Harper, Maddie, Jessie; brothers, David (Darlene) Wilmes, Arthur (Sharon) Wilmes, Allan Wilmes, LaVerne (Sue) Wilmes, Michael (Kathy) Wilmes; sisters, Marilyn Slama, and Jeanne Doheny; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandson Eric Wilmes; siblings, Adelaide Wilmes, Arlene VonAvery, Joan (Harold) Tish, and Leon Wilmes, and brother-in-law, LeRoy Slama.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair, with Father Robert Schneider officiating. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in St. Clair.
