Starlow R. "Star" Howard

Starlow R. "Star" Howard, 68, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her brother's welcoming home on Saturday, November 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born on March 25, 1957, to Frank and Irene Howard in Peoria.
Star is survived by her two brothers, Gregory (Lesley) Howard and Virgil (Christine) Howard both of Peoria, IL; sister, Kimberly (Leroy) Davis of Minneapolis, MN; and a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, eight sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
Star graduated with her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois in Springfield. She last worked at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in Chicago.
The Holy Temple Church of God in Christ was Star's family church in Peoria that she first attended and was led by Pastor William Clark. She later was a member of Abundant Faith Christian Center in Springfield, led by Pastor Jerry W. Doss. Star also attended Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Peoria led by Pastor Robert James Criss, Sr. before moving to Chicago.
While living in Chicago, she was a member of Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ led by Pastor Lamont Lenox. She assisted the church as an anniversary chairperson, worked in the food pantry, and was a Sunday School Superintendent. Star also volunteered for the Heritage Senior Citizen Program as a teacher and was a licensed missionary for Southern Illinois Ecclesiastic Jurisdiction. These were just a few of the many roles she had within her church.
The family would like to thank Northwestern Memorial Hospital Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care of Chicago, OSF Home Care Hospice of Peoria, and AdvaCare Systems of Peoria for the wonderful care they provided Star.
A homegoing service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Love and Kindness Ministries C.O.G.I.C. in Peoria. Pastor Fred Watson will officiate. Visitation will be held an hour prior to her service. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
