Steaphan T. Scott

Steaphan Thomas Scott of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Steave was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on August 15, 1954, to Thomas Robert Scott and Lydia Ruth Scott (née Roy). He grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, where he attended Dreher High School and later the University of South Carolina.

Steave worked for Sears and Citi Financial Services. For many years, he was actively involved in organizing ComFest, the large community festival in Columbus. He had a deep interest in history, especially modern European and Chinese history, and enjoyed discussing current events. In his younger years, he traveled extensively and lived in Taiwan for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cheney, and their son, Geoffrey Scott. He is also survived by his sister, Peg Scott Bentzinger, and her husband, Bob; and his brother, James Scott, and his wife, Catherine. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, Monday, Jan 5 at 10 o'clock, with interment in the family plot in Greenlawn Memorial Park, across Leesburg Road immediately afterwards.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, Jan 10 from 2-4 o'clock in the Friendship Hall of Old First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Bryden Road, Columbus OH 43205.

In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to the Public Broadcasting System, or the American Heart Association.
