Stefanos Spathis Obituary

Spathis, Stefanos
BINGHAMTON - Stefanos "Ike" Spathis, 65, formerly of East Greenbush passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Bridgewater Nursing Home. Stefanos was born in NYC, N.Y., the son of the late Anastasios Spathis and Panagiota (Kariotakis) Spathis. Stefanos will be remembered for his sense of humor, insightfulness, and his extraordinary ability to connect and form friendships with everyone he met. Stefanos was kind-hearted and loved his family, especially his nieces and nephew. In his prime, Stefanos was a self-taught musician, guitar instructor and cofounder of Calliope Music. He was also an excellent short-order cook and worked for his father's business, The East Greenbush Diner, for many years. Survivors include sister, Rita Spathis, and her husband, Richard Blansky of New Fairfield, Conn.; nephew, Brad Blansky; niece, Deanna Blansky, and her husband, Paul Cammarata; and niece, Stacey Blansky. Ike, we will all miss you very much. A heartfelt thank you to the staff and residents at Bridgewater Nursing Home, for their years of love and support. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service, Saturday, August 23, at 11:00 a.m., at Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Ave., Albany, N.Y.
