Stella Fuh-Mei Weng, 84, of Tenafly, New Jersey, passed away at home on May 30, 2025, after a long illness. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Stella was born on September 29, 1940, in Yuan-Li, Taiwan, the 2nd youngest of 11 children. She graduated from National Taiwan University, in Taipei, Taiwan, where she met her future husband, Cheng-nan Weng. In 1967, she emigrated to the United States, to New York City, and married Cheng-nan in 1968. She and Cheng-nan eventually settled in northern New Jersey to raise their two children. Stella earned masters degrees in library science and then in computer science. She worked for many years as a computer programmer, lastly for Kajima International, then located in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, until her retirement in 2002.
After her retirement, Stella enjoyed taking walks with her husband and friends, ballroom dancing, flower arranging, listening to her husband's off-key karaoke singing, traveling the world, and laughing with friends.
She is survived by her husband, Cheng-nan; son Francis (Jenny Kim); daughter Patricia (Steven Chang); grandsons Alex and Ethan; and older sister Hsieh-Jean. She was preceded in death by her parents, other 9 siblings, and beloved granddaughter Gretchen.
