Stephanie Hagen

Stephanie Hill Hagen, born on April 19, 1959, passed away on April 21, 2022, just two days after her 63rd birthday. Steph succumbed to heart failure incident to leukemia, which was diagnosed just a week prior. Her untimely departure was a shock to everyone.

Steph was born in Glendale California, and moved to Bountiful, Utah at age six. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent her youth and adolescent years in the 23rd ward where she had an abundant childhood with her three brothers. During that time, she made lifelong friends that she loved all her days. She graduated from Bountiful High school in 1977 and then attended Snow College where she played hard and studied, "just enough". She then followed her father's footsteps into the banking industry.

She married her long-time best friend, Butch (John) Hagen on October 9, 1981. He is the love of her life. Together they welcomed three outstanding children into their family: Brad, Heidi, and Hillary. She later loved and unconditionally welcomed three more children through marriage; Mandy, Matt, and Andrew.

Steph was the most understanding, easygoing, and loving, mother. She focused on the good in her children and she was always willing to drop everything to help them. She raised them to be independent and faithful. She was creative in her discipline and tender in her teaching. Everyone was always welcome in their home. It was always a safe haven for her children and her children's friends. Neighborhood kids loved their pop machine, fully stocked fridge, and rides on their golf cart.

Steph invested time in people wherever she went. She was the life of the party. She filled the room with joy, fun, and laughter. Steph was easy to talk to; her visits lasted hours, not minutes. She touched everybody's lives and has too many friends to count, but since Facebook does, she has 683…NOT counting her innumerable Words with Friends Opponents.

Steph touched hearts through her vivacious and inspiring motivational speaking. She spoke at BYU Women's Conference, girls camps, and scores of other women's events. She was witty, had impeccable timing, an outrageous sense of humor, and her presence dominated the room. Steph was zesty. She never lost an argument. In the absence of facts there was always intimidation and rapid-fire comebacks. Even when she was wrong, she was right. She loved Diet Coke with two lemons and one lime, and even salt and pepper was too spicy!

Steph served in the Young Women organization for over 30 years, served in three Stake Young Women Presidencies, and multiple Relief Society Presidencies. However, her favorite calling was teaching a small primary class of six young girls with her husband, whom they dearly loved. She has a strong testimony of the gospel and a special love of the Savior.

Steph was articulate in her letter writing. She was Christ like and proof that God has a sense of humor. Always on a crusade, she was well informed and up to date on current events. She showed genuine interest in whoever was in front of her. She also scratched any head or back within arms reach.

Everyone was eager to have Steph on their team and many were fiercely 100% TEAM STEPH. She lovingly cared for her parents and her in-laws. Steph and Butch spent 38 years in Kaysville and recently moved to Syracuse where they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Steph and Butch enjoyed each other's company and laughed together everyday while holding hands on the couch watching their favorite shows.

Steph is irreplaceable to us all, but quite possibly the largest hole she will leave is in her role "Grammie." She absolutely adored her 9 grandkids. Each one took turns as "Grandchild of the Month" and reveled in the attention and extra special love they got when the spotlight was on them.

She was prepared and not afraid to move on, but she desperately did not want to leave her family. Steph is survived by her loving husband Butch, her children Brad (Mandy), Heidi (Matt) Tryon, and Hillary (Andrew) Haacke. She was fiercely proud of them all. Her beloved grandkids Johnny, Charlie, Milo and Jacqueline (Baby Girl) Hagen; Hallie, Cooper and Lucy Tryon; and Quinn and Cole Haacke. Her siblings, who were not just family, but her best friends; Mitch (Deb) Hill, Pat (Diane) Hill, and Tom (Jill) Hill. Her fan club of nieces and nephews and SO many dear friends.

Steph's arrival to the other side was celebrated by her parents Jim and Nadia Hill, in-laws Curt and Donna Hagen, and brother-in-law Rick Hagen. Imagining their loving reunion warms our hearts.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, April 27, from 6-8 pm at Russon Brother's Mortuary, located at 1941 North Main Street, Farmington.

The funeral services and a celebration of life will be Thursday, April 28, at 11 am, with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 at the Syracuse, Utah, West Stake center, located at 1600 S 4500 W Syracuse. Internment will be at the Kaysville Cemetery.
