Stephanie Camille King-Bays, 49, was born on July 1, 1976 at the Pattie A. Clay Hospital. Stephanie was the life of the party – in her younger years she was often called Marilyn Monroe and even won the "Always Primping" Superlative. She had a larger than life personality and her legacy will remain in the hearts and lives of all who knew her.
Stephanie was a dedicated student earning her Masters degree in Public Health from Eastern Kentucky University where she was also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Stephanie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family and also always looked forward to going shopping, and she had a heart that longed for the beach. Stephanie had always loved the Lord and attended Freedom Worship Church of God.
Survivors include: her husband, Rocky Bays; her children, Ceana Bays, Daniel Rhodus and a special niece who she considered like a daughter, Say'Lene Camille Denny; her grandchildren, Mallary, Madilyn & Kira; her mother, Sharlene Prewitt Evans (David); her grandfather, Bill "Buck Allen" Prewitt (Carol); her Mamaw and best friend, Joyce Vaughn (they were like two peas in a pod); her aunts & uncles, David & Jamie Prewitt, Shauneta Prewitt, Karen & Frankie Allen, Teresa & Terry Smith, Randy Baldwin, Michael Fox, and Daniel King; a special friend, Jonda Vaughn; her beloved dogs, Hercules & Pebbles; as well as a host of cousins and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Cecil King; one sister, Meredith King; her grandparents, Coleman & Beulah Short, Roberta Prewitt, and Rose "Mama Rose Bud" Maltese; her uncles, Larry Prewitt, Arthur King, David Gamble and James Roland King; and her little dog, Poopy.
Private services were conducted and burial was in the Prewitt Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Austin Whitaker, Roman Allen, Michael Denny, Nikolas Whitaker, Robbie Ellington, and Michael Randolph.
The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond was in charge of the arrangements.
