Stephanie "Stevi" Louise Townsend Vallet, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and nana passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Alpine First Baptist Church, Pineville. Funeral services will be Monday, January 29, 2024 at 10:00 am at Alpine First Baptist Church, Pineville. Burial services immediately following at Emmanuel cemetery in Chopin, Louisiana.
Stevi was born at St. Francis hospital in Lynwood, California May 6, 1949. Stevi was the first of four children born to Louis "Glynn" and Marian Eulberg Townsend. She was the big sister to brother Skip and her two younger sisters, Susan and Sally. She was born into a loving and happy family and grew up in Norwalk, California. Her childhood was filled with playing with her siblings, roller-skating, hopscotch, tetherball, going to the beach, camping, plus the many other activities that Southern California had to offer.
Stevi always loved dolling-up Susan and Sally and especially doing their hair. It was no surprise when Stevi decided she wanted to be a beautician and enrolled in beauty college while still attending Norwalk High School.
Stevi worked as a beautician and as a secretary as she started her family. She put work on hold as her family grew so she could stay home with her children, Mark, Sherry, Wendi, Jason and Joey.
In 1984, after going through some life changes, Stevi and her five children moved to Tullos, Louisiana to be close to her dad's family.
It was during this time Stevi discovered her talent of working with people and began her career as a successful and well-respected insurance agent working her way up to a manager with LaPine Underwriters and ending her career with Kilpatrick Life Insurance Company.
In 1985, not long after moving to Louisiana, her mother Marian became ill and was hospitalized at Hardtner Medical Center for long-term care. It was during this time that Stephanie first met Jimmy Vallet, a kind, caring, and compassionate respiratory therapist, who so lovingly provided respiratory therapy care for her sweet mother.
After her mother passed away, several years went by before Stephanie and Jimmy reconnected in 1994. This grew into a loving relationship and they were married in 2004. They have been married for 20 years and haven't left each other's side since.
Stephanie was a loyal and faithful member of the Alpine First Baptist Church. She was a devoted Christian with strong spiritual beliefs and often led prayer groups which formed close and life-long friendship within the church. Stephanie was a good steward of the church and was always the first to volunteer where needed.
Stephanie retired from her insurance career in 2016 and has not slowed down since. She is an Alpine Christian School Board member. She has been involved in various clubs; Monday Quilters, Joy Lunch, Day Lily Club, Crazy Quilters Dry Prong, and Bunco's Group. She regularly volunteered to deliver meals through the church at Main Street Missionaries. She has also been very creative and very crafty. Not only did she host various events for women like "My cup runneth over" tea party, She has recently become a local celebrity when the commercials she appeared in aired on TV.
Stephanie worked tirelessly for whatever activity she was involved with, especially for her church and the various charities she provided service to, and loved every minute of it. Many of us were in awe of her endless energy and her willingness to serve.
Stephanie leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Jimmy Vallet, children Mark and (Mkay) Johnson, Sherry Philips, Wendi Johnson, Jason and (KayCee) Johnson, and Joey Johnson. Grandchildren AJ and (Eleanor) Johnson, Glynn Johnson, Keri and (Brad) Pilcher, Faith Johnson, Lila-Ann Johnson, Coco Johnson, Nicholas Philips, Joshua Philips, Jenna Johnson, Madeline Johnson, Kain Smart, and Alyssa and (Robert) Johnson. Great-grandchildren Natilye Garvin, Brantley Garvin, Bradley Pilcher, Mia Pilcher, Brody Pilcher, and Brycen Johnson. Siblings Skip Townsend and Susan and (Curt) Wright. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
