Gary Justin McKay

Gary McKay was born on May 16, 1942, in Alexandria, Louisiana to Justin Willie McKay and Mattie Clark McKay and entered into eternal rest on February 4, 2026, at the age of 83.

A graveside service for Gary will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 10:00 am at Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville.

Gary was a lifetime member at First Baptist Church in Pineville beginning with his two-week cradle roll certificate through baptism at the age of 8 and serving as deacon for 31 years. Gary's service to the church was his passion, beyond calculation and touched the lives of many.

A dedicated Pineville resident, Gary attended Pineville Elementary, Pineville High School and Louisiana College. Gary had a successful career at the Alexandria Daily Town Talk beginning at age 11 as a paper carrier, serving as a Corporate Officer for 15 years and progressing to Circulation Director across the course of a 37-year career. In addition to Gary's success at the Town Talk, he built a portfolio of residential and commercial real estate in Central Louisiana as well as owning the City Park Washateria for 30 years. At age 55, Gary started a new career as a Commercial Realtor and fully retired in 2013.

Gary married his wife Pat Perkins McKay in 1971 and is survived by sons Dean McKay, Scott McKay, daughter Jennifer Gallagher, granddaughters Macy, Claire, Caroline and Marie and his grandson Nicholas. Gary is also survived by his brother Marty McKay, sisters-in-law Bonnie McKay and Cathy McKay and was preceded in death by his brother Michael McKay.

Gary spent his life in Central Louisiana and had a true love for the area and the Pineville community. His life centered around family, church and career. Gary also enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, fishing, exercise and traveling. Gary and his brothers were inseparable. Gary had an unbreakable spirit and leaves behind a legacy of accomplishment, strong sense of family and love for the Lord.
