Samuel "Sam" Bishop, Jr.
A Mass of Christian burial for Sam Bishop, Jr., will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pineville with Fr. Dale Meade officiating, followed by a funeral procession to Cleveland Cemetery, Lena, La., for interment.
Visitation will begin in the church on Wednesday from 11AM until time of services.
"Sam" Bishop, Jr., age 59 of Pineville, entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 6, 2025, in Lafayette, La.
Sam was a graduate of Pineville High School, Class of "83". He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was an active member of the Sacred Heart "ACTS" Retreat Community.
Sam was also an active member of The Knights of Columbus, John Paul II, Council #14657. He was a retired pipefitter working in various levels of construction throughout the years. After retirement he enjoyed doing handyman work, spending time with family and friends and going to church. Sam always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ella Jean and Sam Bishop, Sr., and two brothers, Donnie Bishop and John Bishop.
Sam is survived by two sons, Justin Bishop (Mae) of Cane River (Natchitoches) and Zane Bishop of Hot Springs, Ark., one sister, Mary Galloway of Pineville, and his brother, Joe Bishop (Misty) of Pineville, his former wife and mother of his children, Michele Bishop of Hot Springs, Ark., and three grandchildren, Tinsley Bishop, Elijah Bishop, and Althea Bishop. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be: Joe Bishop, Justin Bishop, Zane Bishop, Darrell Basco, Jacob Crooks, and John Bishop, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Wendell Albert, Jeff Harrell and Lewis Tuma.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Fall Creek Funeral Home, Pineville, Robbie Dauzat, Director.
