Stephanie Palasik, 86, of Highlandtown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025. Born in Baltimore, she lived a life of service, devotion, and leadership that touched countless lives.

Stephanie was a devoted daughter who lovingly cared for her parents in their senior years, and a compassionate neighbor who was always ready to lend a helping hand. She worked for over 20 years with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, where she dedicated herself to serving its members.

Her impact on Baltimore was profound. For nearly 30 years, Stephanie served as a tireless leader of the Canton Highlandtown Community Association, spearheading initiatives that strengthened and preserved the city. Among her many contributions were establishing a two-year food distribution program, helping to create the Korean War Memorial and Memorial Park, bringing vital resources such as Safeway, nursing homes, and a senior center to the neighborhood, preserving the historic American Can Company building, and, as part of the Waterfront Coalition, shaping what is now the Baltimore Waterfront Promenade.

As Assistant to Baltimore City Councilman Mimi DiPietro, Stephanie served as a trusted Community Advisor. Under her leadership, the Association’s newsletter grew to 16 pages and was distributed monthly to 16,000 residents with the help of 30 volunteers she organized and inspired.

She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Theresa Krol, Michael Bowler, Stanley Krol Jr., Thomas Bowler, and Helen Rose and her brother-in-law, Stanley Krol Sr. She will be remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Friends and family may call at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home at 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at route 702 (beltway exit 36) on Sunday, August 24th from 12pm to 3 pm. The religious service will be held at 3pm at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home.
