It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Paul Aldi, 60, of Scotia, NY on June 12, 2025. Steve was surrounded by the love of his family at the time of his passing.
Stephen Paul Aldi was born in Niskayuna, NY on July 20, 1964. He was the son of Barbara and Paul Aldi. Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Paul Aldi. He is survived by his wife, Felicia, his children Christopher and Julian (Emily), his mother Barbara, his sister Lenore Aldi-Snow, his niece Cecilia Snow-Kelley (Zackary), and his nephews Geoffrey and Brendan Snow.
Steve graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1982, then continued his education attending SUNY Schenectady. He was employed by the State of New York Office of General Services in Albany, NY. In addition, Steve previously owned the "Rhythm Section," a music store in the village of Scotia.
Steve was a devoted father, son, brother, husband and friend. He was a cherished member of the local music community and beyond. Steve was a proud member of various bands and groups which include: the Alan Payette Band, Big Block Blues Band, Ernie Williams Band, Capital Region Blues Network, and many more. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many others whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him for the way he lived and for the profound impact Steve had on the lives of those who experienced the pleasure of knowing him.
Steve was passionate about so many things: his family and friends, the New York Yankees, cars, boating, car races, music, motorcycles, his dogs, and cooking. No one who met Steve could forget his talent, infectious belly laugh, sense of humor, his kindness, and generosity. His heart was full of love, pride and absolute joy for Christopher and Julian ~ always.

Dear Felicia, I was shocked and saddened by Steve´s passing! A friend since middle school and so smart and kind. His smile lite up the room always!! He was a person that always made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. His demeanor never changed. He was a special person that stayed true to himself even after he became famous. I always felt blessed when I ran into him. Especially when I saw him on stage at Harvey´s on the Boulevard very unexpectedly decades ago. Proud of him owning Rhythm Section. Grateful that he had you Felicia. Praying for him, you, and your family. Maria R

I played with Steve for many years in the Alan Payette Band- he was, for me, a mentor as much as a friend. A consummate professional, Steve always brought the right energy to every project he worked with. His talent was unquestionable, but what always mattered more to me was his willingness to help anyone around him. He was, in short, one of the good guys, and I´ll miss him terribly.

I taught drums at The Rhythm Section for years. To say that Steve was a great human would be a profound understatement. I will miss him tremendously.

I thought I´d share something Steve told me back in 2006, right before I moved to NC.

We were standing out in front of the shop when Steve pointed at a FedEx truck and asked me if I could see the arrow between the E and the X. I had never noticed it before that. Steve said to me "There you go. Now, every time you see the arrow, you´ll think of your friend."

I still do.

Rest in peace, my friend.

Where can I begin , I think Steve O would love a joke or sarcasm here but all I can say Is I loved him totally and unconditionally like family, he was easy to know and his kindness went beyond most humans. Musically we played together as close friends , we worked together and we laughed together. We had secret names for all of life´s quirks that only best friends share. As the years moved on we grew apart starting families and traveling new roads. You will always be remembered as one of the BEST. Xoxo

My heart is crying. It is my honor to have known Steve Aldi and to have had the opportunity to play with him over the years.

We worked together in so many different musical settings. Whenever Steve arrived on the gig he instantly filled the room with his big smile and his big bass sound! As a drummer I could always relax and play my best knowing Steve was on the gig - he had amazing facility on the bass, was always listening and would never sacrifice solid groove for playing something flashy or out of context. He had a distinctive sound which was rich, warm, full and very funky!

I was also lucky to work with Steve at his local store in Scotia teaching drum lessons during summer months. The "Rhythm Section" was a place the local community musicians could buy great instruments and gear, get needed support, take-music lessons and hang-out with other great musicians.

Steve touched so many of our lives with his gentle spirit.

I will miss him forever.
