Jeanette R. Aldi

Jeanette R. Aldi passed away peacefully Thursday, May 8th in Walnut Creek, CA. Jeanette was born in New Haven, Connecticut on September l7, 1925 to the late Mary and Andrew Salem. Jeanette lived for more than 35 years in Cheshire, CT before moving to Danville, California to be closer to family. In 1946 Jeanette married A. Joseph Aldi at St. Thomas Church. Shortly after marrying they headed off to Indiana for Joe to attend college. While Joseph was in college, their first son, Robert, was born in l948. Two years later their daughter Nancy was born and seven years after that, Carol was born.
Jeanette was a woman ahead of her time who always believed that ideas and opinions of women were just as equal and important as any man's. Her keen eye for real estate gave Jeanette the opportunity to live in Cape Cod, MA, Napa Valley, CA, Incline Village, NV and Old Saybrook, CT. An avid adventurer even into her 90's, Jeanette could be found playing tennis, wine tasting or taking trips to Vegas without hesitation. Her laughter could fill rooms and the strength in her spirit will be greatly missed. No slot machine was safe so long as Jeanette was around!
She is survived by her son Robert (Lillian) Aldi, her daughter Carol Bacher, four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Lindsay) Freeman, Ashley (Bekah) Bacher, Erik (Michelle) Bacher, Allison (Matthew) Simonson. Jeanette also leaves behind five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews on both the east & west coasts. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Elaine Aldi Wells. She was preceded in death by her husband A. Joseph Aldi, daughter Nancy Aldi Freeman, son-in-law Louis J. Bacher. Also, her sisters Clara Williams (Art), Annette Horkan (Tony), and brother Andrew Salem, (Anne), sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Vincent Susco.
Donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society, 55 Chapel Street, Suite 006, Newton, MA 02458, in memory of her daughter Nancy.
