Stephen Bacon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barnes-Friederich & Pope Funeral Home - Midwest City on Feb. 16, 2024.
Stephen C. Bacon, age 72, passed from this life surrounded by his loving family to eternal life on February 14, 2024.
Stephen was born to Vearl and Delores Bacon in McPherson, KS on January 16, 1952. He was the fourth born child in their family of ten children. He was raised in a loving, Christian farmhouse in rural McPherson. He attended McPherson High School. He worked as a draftsman, and then in framing construction before he started his own wallpaper and painting business which he continued up until this year. He was a hardworking man who was highly sought after in his work field. At the age of eighteen, he met his high school sweetheart, Kaylene Soukup in McPherson, KS and they married soon after on August 3, 1973. They raised four sons and two daughters just outside of OKC and were happily married for thirty-nine years before she went to heaven in 2012. He then met and married Barbara Cieri on December 24, 2016 and they enjoyed the rest of his days together.
Stephen was a devout follower of Christ who not only believed in God's Word but lived and obeyed it. He was an avid reader and studied many books on theology and the Bible. He was adamantly opposed to Calvinism and we were always taught that you can not accept one part of Calvinism without accepting them all. The King James Bible was his favorite book of all and he hid more of God's word in his heart than any other person we know. He very much enjoyed southern gospel music and the old hymns were his very favorites. He was involved in leading music ministries at many of the churches he was a part of. He shared Jesus with everyone he came into contact with that he possibly could. Stephen lived a simple life and needed nothing more than the Jesus he loved and served, his family....and a good pocket knife or two. He had a sweet tooth that could rival the best, especially chocolate, and he could always find some in his pocket to share. He loved animals of all kinds, especially birds and German Shepherds. He enjoyed star gazing as well and was known to have a few telescopes in his time. He taught his children and grandchildren all the constellations he knew. He took great pleasure in anything outdoors in God's creation. He spent time hunting and fishing and shared these loves with his children and grandchildren. He adored all of his thirteen grandchildren and he attended every event they were a part of that he could.
Stephen was preceded in death by father Vearl A. Bacon, mother Delores J. Bacon, first wife Kaylene Ann Bacon, sister Donna Lee Call, and fourteenth grandchild Journey Ann Bacon.
During his life he enjoyed the love of many extended family members, friends, business colleagues. He is survived by his wife Barbara Bacon of McLoud, Ok; His children: Dustin Bacon of McLoud, OK, Miranda (Steven) Calderon of Yukon, OK; Mark (Laura) Bacon of Yukon, OK; Stephanie Bacon of Bethany, OK; Joshua (Leah) Bacon of McLoud, OK; James (Candice) Bacon of Yukon, OK. His step children: Shawna Leatherwood of Houston, TX; Lorry Gail Malcom of Newalla, Ok; Jon Aaron Cieri of Seattle, WA; Grandchildren: Nathanael, Jena, Coleton, Jade, Arianna, Ruslan, Bella, Marshal, Artur, McKenna, Westin, Xander, and Lincoln. Brothers: Vearl Bacon, John Bacon and sisters Dea Anne Corns, Vashti Goins, Lavonna Schaper, Martha Wilson, Mary Spaich, Becky Yingling.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Choctaw Church of the Nazarene at 2pm.
Flowers may be sent to Barnes Friederich 1820 S. Douglas Blvd, Midwest City, Ok 73130. Donations in his honor may be made to the Gospel Station Network or the City Rescue Mission
