Stephen Scott Barber, a man of unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and a sharp wit, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 23, 2025. Born on August 20, 1954, in Providence, Rhode Island, Stephen lived a life rich in service, love, and adventure. Stephen was a devoted husband to Susan Barber and a loving father to Kourtnie Ramirez (Rengie). His joy was multiplied by his cherished grandchildren, Ephraim, Emerson, Olive, and Ezra Ramirez. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Angell and Mary Ann Barber, his brother, Charlie Barber, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he held dear. He was predeceased by his parents, Esther and Irving Barber and son Nathan Barber. Stephen's character was defined by his quick wit, insightful nature, humor, generosity, and thoughtful demeanor. His big heart was evident in his tireless service and care for others. Above all, he loved Jesus and his beloved wife, Susan. His life was marked by a commitment to service and faith. He proudly served in the United States Army and furthered his theological education at Washington Bible College. For 40 years, Stephen dedicated himself to Hosean International Ministries, making a profound impact on the lives of countless children in Haiti through the construction of orphanages and schools. He was a faithful member and servant of Calvary Community Church, where his dedication and compassion were deeply valued. Stephen had a passion for travel, particularly by boat and RV. He enjoyed many adventures throughout Europe and on cruises, and he found solace and joy in the beauty of the Georgia mountains. He loved spending time with his wife and his two dogs. Stephen's legacy of love, faith, and service will be forever cherished by those who knew him.
